St. Patrick's Day / Taste of Green

Just a small portion of the green foods!

Our St. Patrick's Day celebration began with the discovery of "green foot prints" all over the room when the Molecules arrived. Where are those leprechauns hiding? Fiona's mom welcomed the Molecules as they entered with beautiful Celtic music played on her flute and Fiona's special art decorated the room. We enjoyed reading with our buddies, listened to an Irish tale, and then practiced the Irish Jig. Our day ended with a special event, Taste of Green. We invited our reading buddies to join us and taste different green foods. We then decided which food we thought was the most healthy and which food we liked the best. A graph was created that recorded the results. Thanks to Alison for sharing a special treat for everyone to take home and for the exciting green tinsel doorway! Click here for more photos.

MOST DONATED: Pennies for Patients

The Molecules have a lot to be proud of in their efforts collecting money for Pennies for Patients. We exceeded our goal by 300% and collected just a little over $500. We will be treated to a pizza party by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is something to truly celebrate! Thank you to everyone who sent in donations.

*** Total Collected: $502.98!!!

Outside of the Box Day

Thank you to the parents who shared their time during Outside the Box Day. Molecules designed and created by far the most interesting shoes I've seen. After hearing the story, The Elves and the Shoemaker, we viewed all the supplies available and then measured our feet and began to design and build. We finished our project by showing our new wearable shoes to Mrs. Guerra's first graders. We then in turn listened to the first graders play the instruments that they built. ASFS Auction

Thank you to our great room parents for sharing history of the Chinese characters. The Molecules created special stationary with Chinese characters. The beautiful note cards will be be on the silent auction table at the ASFS Auction on 3/24. I hope to see many of our parents there! Catalogs came home on Friday; please let me know if you didn't receive yours.

Plant Unit

To begin our plant unit, Molecules looked inside a seed to find a plant. We'll take the seeds we planted out to the courtyard where the sun shines brighter. Ask your child what's needed for plants to grow.

Word Study Journal

The homework is looking great! Please feel free to send me your feedback on how much or little you actually support your child in the work. Thank you for making sure the journal is returned on Friday.

Book Ordering On-Line

April catalogs will be available until April 28. You have the option to order the books on line and use your credit card. Books ordered on line will still be sent to the classroom and delivered through back pack mail. Expect to see these orders come home on Monday.
