Pennies for Patients

On Thursday, your child came home with information about a program that involves all ASFS students. The program is Pennies for Patients and we've set a classroom goal to collect $150.00 over the next three weeks. Molecules and parents are encouraged to bring in coins (please put in baggie) and each day we will count and then graph our donations. All types coins are welcome! The class with the highest contribution wins a pizza party. As a class we want to win, but not for pizza but to support the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

*** today we collected $32.07!!!

Celebrate Math Day

Thank you to the parents who shared their time during Math Day. The morning was a huge success with the Molecules rotating through seven different teachers, learning a new concept or strategy.

Blast Off!

To end our week in the Investigation Station, learning about recycling, we created a design brief and built a rocket from reused materials. The "blast off" was a success and enjoyed by all. The rockets had certain requirements to be included in the plan. Click here for photos!

Parent / Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent / Teacher conferences are March 1-2. I am looking forward to meeting with you to celebrate your child's successes and focus on concerns for a great second half of our school year. Please look at the conference schedule and let me know what time works best for you.

** If you feel a conference is not necessary or you'd like to do via phone or email, please let me know; this is absolutely no problem.

Groundhog's Day

The Groundhog didn't see his shadow but next week the and Molecules will. We will trace shadows on the blacktop, measure groundhog shadows to see how they changed over the course of the day, and use magnetic letters to block light. To enrich our study of shadows we read Gregory Predicts the Weather.

Book Ordering On-Line

February catalogs will be available until Feb. 28. You have the option to order the books on line and use your credit card or send it the order books that came home. Books ordered on line will still be sent to the classroom and delivered through back pack mail.
