Valentine's Day Celebration

Thanks to our wonderful Fab Four room parents, our party was a huge success! The food and activities were enjoyed by everyone. Click here. for the photos.

We Enjoy Books EVERYDAY!

We are fortunate having so many parents read with us in the morning during WEB. Taking time to be with us means a lot, and it is also playing a huge part in every ones' success as readers. I appreciate when I see parents encourage others to be reading books in their book boxes, independently or with each other. Our goal until the end of the year is fluency, fluency, fluency. Recognizing and decoding text is important, but having the ability to read without pausing, changing voice for expression, really takes the Molecules to the next level. Don't give up on books that have been read over and over, take advantage them and listen to your child and others read with gusto!

Happy Birthday Alison and Sarah!
Enjoy the photos.

Pennies for Patients

We are not only safe, kind and fair, we're extremely generous! We raised so much in the first week for Pennies for Patients. that we increased our original goal of $150 to $215.00. The campaign ends tomorrow, and without a doubt we have a lot to be proud of in Room 149. Not only have we had great practice counting money, we're giving support to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Totally cool! (Thank you parents for your kindness and generosity!)

*** collected so far: $278.49!!!

Celebrate Writing Day

Thank you to the parents who shared their time during Math Day. The morning was a huge success with the Molecules rotating through seven different teachers, learning new concepts and strategies.

Famous Presidents

Lincoln and Washington were great presidents! We've been celebrating them for two weeks, by creating log cabins, four star general hats, reading stories and poetry. The Molecules can tell you a lot about these remarkable men.

Parent / Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent / Teacher conferences are March 1-2. I am looking forward to meeting with you to celebrate your child's successes and focus on concerns for a great second half of our school year. Please look at the conference schedule for your your conference time. Let me know if you need the password.

Please send in the form that acknowledges that you received the report card. If you plan on bringing that during the conference, please let me know.

Outside the Box Day

On March 7, the Molecules will become shoemakers and design wearable shoes. We will use recycled items to create our shoes. Ms. Guerra has invited us to show-off our shoes and walk the runway for her first graders. We will then, in turn, hear the instruments that the first graders have created. We need more parent support on this day. Please let me know if you can make it from 9:00-11:00.

Book Ordering On-Line

February catalogs will be available until Feb. 28. You have the option to order the books on line and use your credit card. Books ordered on line will still be sent to the classroom and delivered through back pack mail.
