A Message from Mrs. Ablott in the
Investigation Station

Our Molecules in Motion will be exploring how we can recycle materials by creating rockets to launch! We would appreciate if parents could send in recycled materials that we could use in such an endeavor-water bottles, clear smallish plastic containers and MOST importantly: **white film canisters which MotoPhoto has willingly donated in the past. Thank you for your support of our aeronautical endeavors in Investigation Station!

Mrs. Ablott

*** thank you in advance for those of you who can stop by photo stores/booths from time to time and ask for the clear film containers. Each Molecule will need two to launch their rocket.

Mr. Riley Away Next Week

Due to medical reasons (not to worry!), I will be in Portland, OR all during next week. Mrs. Renkey will be the visiting teacher and has enjoyed this group in the past. She is excited about spending the week with the Molecules. Please discuss with your child each day things they can do to make sure Mrs. Renkey has the best time possible. (More to come)

Up-Coming Field Trips

Thank you to the parents who turned in the permission slip for the Corcoran Art Gallery and planetarium. Parents are welcome to join our trip to the Corcoran Art Gallery on Friday. It's important that you let Mrs. Cabrales know if you are joining before Friday. See our Kindergarten Bulletin Board for all event dates. Permission slips can be found on the class web site. Click here.

Martin Luther King Jr.

We looked at photos of Martin as a child, a teacher, a preacher and a father. We sang a song about the dream he had and talked about what he knew was wrong and how he tried to change the way people acted. On Monday, we will think about Martin Luther King and the kindness and fairness he shared.

Word Study Journal

Molecules will have homework each night of the week except Friday. Their awesome efforts should be put into a Word Study Journal and returned to the classroom every Friday. Check the back pack for the first homework and a letter to you giving you instructions on how to support your child for success. We discussed different types of "doing homework":Doing a little each night, all one day, all one day before it's due. Most of us agree that doing a little each day is the best!

The same homework is completed by all kindergarten classes. It is typically handed out on Monday and returned on Friday. Mrs. Cabrales and I will attempt to send home on Friday, so the Molecules can get a head start.

Book Ordering On-Line

New February catalogs will come home on Tuesday, but you have the option of looking early and ordering the books on line and using your credit card. Books will still be sent to the classroom and delivered through back pack mail.
